I made a BIG mistake. Doreen and I took the kids to the park today, and we were talking about photographing them. She tries to get Lilah's attention, and I mentioned that Anthony does well when I don't say anything at all to him. But he's had a camera shoved in his face forever, he's GOOD at this. Pffft. Should have knocked on wood. My little pro had a major melt down tonight. I made sure I kept him (semi) clean, and I had cute clothes on him. I waited for big A to get home just so I'd have a baby wrangler to watch little A while I shot Bern's kids first. Here's what went down...
"I hate this!"
"Oooooh, Dora!"
"Dora went away!!!"
Our golden moment of the shoot! Love this baby's smile :)
Good feeling gone. "Dada car...Dada car..."
(Dora's back)
"Dora's gone again!"
I got a couple of grumpy faced pictures of him in bluebonnets his first spring. The next year we missed it altogether (there were hardly any around). And this year I got tears. What will next year bring?!
Welcome to my old personal blog. I moved over to www.amandaphagood.wordpress.com with the newer stuff. Come see me!

Dallas Trip
Baby and I planned a little trip to Dallas to see Great-Granny, Great-Grandad and Papa. Yes, we have THREE Papa's. Try to keep up. I was supposed to leave on Tuesday, but then Big A calls me bright and early on Monday morning telling me he's too sick to stay at work (I love that he's working before I even get up some days - hehe!), and that we should vacate the house at once because a) he's sick and 2) the weather is supposed to be super storm on Tuesday so we should try to beat the bad weather. I'm game. I could have made a faster getaway, but I was in the process of washing dirty diapers that morning, thinking I was being good because I hadn't planned to need them until the next day.
We had a blessedly uneventful drive, but we were kept inside for a lot of our trip due to the rain. The couple times we did venture out was on foot, and I didn't take my camera (sad face!) because it kept sprinkling, and I was already designated to hold sippy cups, jackets, and baby hands for crossing the street. Oh well, enjoy our indoor goodness :)
Next time I will be sure to snap photos of Anthony playing around in the yard while Granny gardens and pulls weeds. That woman is incapable of passing a weed without ripping it out by the roots. OBSESSED.
Granny bath time! It went better than last year's bath :) http://www.amandahagoodphotography.com/2011/09/grandparent-visits.html For good measure, here was the first Granny bath: http://www.amandahagoodphotography.com/2010/08/anthonys-first-visit-to-great-granny.html
All the men hanging out in the den together.
Oh, and don't let me forget to mention that I now have a travel problem. Baby figured out how to climb out of the pack n play (in under 2 seconds), so I got zero sleep. We ended up coming home a day early because I was too exhausted to have parties at 2am with him.
Thank you to the Davis Family for leaving Anthony presents! I have to say, Uncle Mike was the big winner with his Melissa and Doug truck set :) I liked it all, but Anthony thought the truck was the best thing ever! I read "Where the Wild Things Are" to him, and I'm excited to watch the movie! I'll have to send you guys pics in the cute outfit you got, too!

Anthony 27 Months
Dear Anthony,
Friday you were 27 months. That sounds so strange. Now that you're past 2, I should probably stop counting by months. My life before you is a distant memory, but I'm pretty sure I used to think that was annoying when parents counted their child's age by months after the 24th. I still think of you as my baby most days, but you are trying to prove in every way that you're becoming my little boy instead.
You learned to count to 10 on your own, and you can count to 8 in Spanish (further if prompted). You say so many words, there's no way to count. And you attempt to say phrases that are longer and longer. I can see you trying hard to figure out what to call unfamiliar things. I see you look at concepts and try to turn them over in your mind, figure out how everything works. Even things you've done a million times (that maybe you took for granted before) have now become fascinating in a whole new way.
I can tell you've had a growth spurt since your 2-year check up, and I think it's time we started a little height chart on our wall. You feel more solid, and when I walk around with you in my arms I can tell how much you've grown. I walked past a mirror with you in my arms, and I couldn't believe you are over half as long as I am. The growth is evident in your pants as well. Your little waist isn't growing very fast, but your legs sure are! There is either serious shin exposure, or if I switch you to bigger pants then they're falling down and dragging the ground.
Your favorite things to do are play with trains or run down to the park. We take long walks, you swing on the swing by yourself, you climbed all the rungs of the ladder on the monkey bar set alone, you have no fear. At home we build and rebuild your train tracks in new ways, build stackadoos into amazing vehicles, and you pretend to eat your stuffed fruit with a delightful "mmm....yum!" and a pat on the tummy. You never cease to entertain me! Most of the time you're entertaining yourself as well, and I love how crazy your laugh is. I want to bottle up your happiness and save it forever.
Recently you started playing with your vehicles while laying completely flat on the floor. The first time you did this we were at the park on the basketball court, and I laid down right beside you to see what perspective was so amazing. There are still so many new things for you, and I love to watch you discover it all. You're so independent sometimes that I think you might run away and not turn back, as you race out to make your discoveries. And just when my heart starts to hurt a little, you turn around say "mama, hand!" so you can drag me along on your adventure, too.
You make my heart swell so much that I think some days it could burst. I know you are slowly stretching it out, increasing its capacity. The day you were born, I loved you as much as I could. Now my heart has grown, and I love you so much more than the night we first met.
My sweetest son, you are my utter and complete joy.
I love you.
Mama
