2 years, 10 months

Dear Anthony,

Sweet boy, you are doing so much. We're running around having a blast with life from the minute we wake up (ok, the running doesn't start until after I've had coffee...), until the minute you go to bed.

You "read" books to me that you've memorized, and it's adorable to hear your little voice move up and down to reflect the way mine does when I tell the story. There are things you've learned from the books that's not memorization, and they are more rewarding (although just as cute). You can count to 29, you can identify shapes and colors. You can even count backwards if the need arises (how else are space ships going to blast off?).

You're completely fascinated by dump trucks, tractors, bull dozers, etc. Recently we spent a crazy amount of time just staring at all the construction vehicles in the neighborhood. You were trying to follow some of them home. The other day you were completely convinced that your dump trucks were missing. I have yet to figure out if these are life-size ones or some of your hot wheels. But you talked about them CONSTANTLY one evening, talked to yourself about it over the monitor, and it was the first thing out of your mouth the next day. At least a few times a day since then you still ask about these missing dump trucks.

Halloween is coming up, and the most appropriate thing would be for me to dress you up as a monkey because that is exactly how you express your excitement, with monkey sounds. At your friend Jackson's birthday party last weekend there were tons of people singing "happy birthday" while you were making monkey sounds that nearly drowned everyone else out! I'm sure Jackson's family was thrilled that you provided a monkey sound track for their video tape :)

Your enthusiasm, sweet face, tight hugs, requests for kisses (sometimes on boo-boos, sometimes part of our game), and choice of sitting in mama's lap over others melt me every time. I love you.

 Mama
